Originally from Detroit, MI, Acuff’s career took off at Cass Tech High School, where he soared from unranked athlete to 247 Sports' #1 point guard in one season after dazzling fans on the Nike EYBL Circuit, leading Cass Tech to a Michigan MHSAA State Championship, and ultimately transferring to IMG Academy in which he lead the NIBC league in scoring as a junior. Acuff, a Team USA U18 member who won Gold and MVP honors at the FIBA AmeriCup in Buenos Aires while leading the team in scoring, chose Arkansas over several top-tier programs, including Michigan, UCONN, Duke, and Kansas.

— League Ready (@LeagueRDY), High School Sports Media

“Darius Acuff became the third freshman in SEC history to win conference player of the year behind Anthony Davis (Kentucky) and Brandon Miller (Alabama). The impressive feat, along with his star-studded performances at the SEC Tournament have given the Arkansas superstar major buzz heading into draft season.”

“It’s easy to see why Acuff is rated as one of the top players in his class. He can score the ball at will, averaging over 20 points on the EYBL circuit this summer. He’s everything you’d want in a modern, score-first point guard; he can pull up from mid-range or three, he has a quick first step to the rim, and he has excellent vision, finding teammates rolling to the rim once the defense collapses on him.”
